Yan Xun Xiao Zhong is a naturally smoked Black tea also referred to as tar tea. What makes it unique is the production method: it is smoked on actual pine needles, which is rarely done as it is very expensive. Manufacturers often use artificial smoke instead, but that is not the case with this tea.
The aroma is very woody, smoky, leathery reminiscent of a warm and cozy fireplace and, surprisingly enough, beef jerky. The flavour is also very smoky, woody and leathery but with floral and prune undertones. Several steeps into the tea session an ephemeral note of violet makes its way into the composition. An exquisite tea for any time of day, Yan Xun Xiao Zhong definitely leaves a lasting impression. It is relaxing, soft and pleasant.
